First Week

Even though it's already going on my third week of being here in Japan, I thought I should probably finish writing this blog post about my first week. So--here's how my first day of school went! First of all, I woke up at about 6:30am and made my bed. Then, I went out to the kitchen to eat breakfast with my host family. The breakfast consisted of French toast and juice; the day before, I tried showing my host mother how to make French toast, and then she managed to make it even better than I did! Now that my second week here has already passed, I usually eat cereal or bread for breakfast, which is delicious nonetheless! After breakfast, I got changed into my uniform and left to walk to school at about 7:30am. About half of the walk is uphill, and since the humidity is so high I got really sweaty. When we arrived at school it was about 8:10, and Hana and I were supposed to give our introduction speeches to the all of the teachers. Beforehand, we met three important faculty membe...

My First Day of School

こんにちは!(the は, is pronounced Wa in this greeting because it is lit.  As for this Day!) Ko-N-Ni-Chi-Wa ! Good morning ! My first day of school was the best experience I have ever had at a school; it was also the most welcoming and opening experience I have ever had anywhere!   I was greeted everywhere I went. I was never ignored when saying hello or good morning. Everyone ran to me and tried having a conversation. it was usually in English because I was having some trouble making enough sentences to carry the conversation. I probably had more than 50 students introduce themselves to me and have a conversation. Every time a Japanese Student was able to get their point across, a little party was thrown; it is amazing to see their enthusiasm for speaking a foreign language! I cannot wait ...

My First Full Day/School Day

Good morning, or Good evening, depending on where you are reading this from. For me it is about 8pm and I just finished dinner about 20 minutes ago. Curry and naan, the perfect combo. Okay enough about how amazing the food was, it will just make me hungry again. Let's get to my first day(s). So, since I arrived at 3pm on Saturday, my first full day was Sunday. My host sister, Satomi, had club activities, so it was just me and her parents until 3 that afternoon. Satomi's mother suggested where to buy my school skirt and socks, so we decided to go at about 11, first to get a bento(lunch box), then to buy school clothes. When it got be be 11, we grabbed our stuffed and walked two blocks to the 100 Yen shop. If you don't know, the 100 Yen shop is the equivalent of a dollar store in America, super cool stuff. We , me and Satomi's Mom, went inside and found some stuff, then Satomi's dad found us and walked around with us. After buying my cute cat bento, we walked the s...
