Hello! Sydney here! I haven't posted in over a month...it's been super crazy as I've been finishing with finals at EWU and at Ferris. But now I'm completely done with school...which means I am a senior now!! It's so crazy! Honestly, it didn't even hit me that I will be going to Japan until last night, June 14th, when I was at my Japanese class dinner. I was just sitting at the dinner and had this one thought going through my mind. I am going to Japan. This just kept playing over, and over, and over again. Not only that but that I'm leaving in 33 hours!! How absolutely crazy is that?? I have also saved around $1000 for this trip. I hope it is a good amount!!
I've been talking with my exchange sister, Mana, quite a bit. She is the sweetest girl ever and I am so happy that the two of us get along. I sometimes find it awkward when we video chat, simply because we just don't know what to talk about, other than just asking what each other want to do in each other's countries. I think at this point we're just waiting so impatiently to finally see each other! I honestly can't wait to see her. I've met her little sister, sorry, my little sister, and honestly love her already! Yui, the little sister, is such a sweet girl. I still don't know much about Mana's parents. I found out her mom is a housewife, but sometimes works, but I still don't know where exactly. Mana said her dad is a "bone-setter", at least that's what I heard when we video chatted. I think by "bone-setter" it might mean chiropractor, but I am not entirely sure. I can't wait to be apart of their family for the next 6 weeks. I am so incredibly grateful to them, for letting me come into their home.
I've started packing today and will finish tomorrow night and very, very early Sunday morning. I have 3 suitcases in total and 1 backpack. 1 carry on and 2 big suitcases. In my carry on I have decided to pack an extra pair of clothes, my pajamas, and an extra toothbrush and toothpaste just in case something happens to my luggage. In one of the big suitcases I have all my clothes, and in the second suitcase are all the gifts for Mana's family and the formal gift for the official I have in Nishinomiya. I've been told not to bring very many clothes, due to the fact that I will mostly be wearing my school uniform. Some gifts I have decided to bring for Mana's family are: coffee and coffee mugs for parents, candy for the whole family, bath bombs for Mana and Yui, and reusable Wonder Woman bags. It was hard to come up with things to get for her family, but in the end my parents and I thought of things we really enjoy and would want to share with others.
Well, that's it for this entry! I will be writing again once we are in Japan!!
